Parish Link with Leksand Sweden
In 2009 we formed our link with the Parish of Leksand in the beautiful rural Dalarna
region of central Sweden. Leksandspastorat encompasses three churches, Leksand
itself, Siljansnäs and Djura, and numerous small villages and hamlets surrounding
Lake Siljan. In 2013, with new vicars in both Longlevens and Leksand, the opportunity
was taken to reaffirm our commitment to the link.
The aim of the link is to provide mutual support as we grow together in faith, a means
of sharing ideas about being church with community, and building bonds of friendship
between the two communities. Groups from both parishes have enjoyed visits. As well
as these group visits, a number of friendships have developed with people from
Longlevens holidaying in Sweden as a result.
All of the churches in Leksand have fine choirs, and we have enjoyed concerts here at
Holy Trinity from the Leksand Church Choir and the Leksand Youth Choir.
